The RECYCLING LIST

Picture

Many think that Mariah Saves Gorillas is just about recycling cell phones, but few know that Eco-Cell has expanded their program to include a large list of hand-held electronics that can be recycled for the benefit of the gorillas.  The following list includes all items currently eligible for recycling through my partnership with Eco-Cell:

  • All cell phones- any condition!
  • Cell batteries & Accessories
  • Bluetooth, Headsets
  • Sim Cards, Memory Cards
  • PDA & Pagers
  • Laptops, Netbooks
  • Portable Hard Drives & USB
  • iPods/MP3 & MP4 Players
  • iPads/Tablets/e-Readers
  • Video Game Systems & Games
  • Portable DVD Players
  • GPS Navigation Units
  • Digital Cameras & Camcorders
  • Digital Clocks & Watches
  • All Charging Cords and Docks for the above!

Tips From Eco-Cell

  • Remove SIM Card and all personal data from the devices prior to recycling.
  • Deactivate electronics and turn off power
  • Keep battery attached to the phone. If battery is not attached to phone, place tape over terminal ends.

Important Info:

Eco-Cell pledges to pay up to $50 per phone* for which 100% of the proceeds is donated to benefit the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International.  Keep in mind that ALL ELECTRONICS contain Coltan, which is being illegally mined in the habitat where the gorillas live... so RECYCLING in any amount lessens the need for newly mined materials needed for the gadgets we love. * Value depends on the make, model, and condition of the electronics collected, but Eco-Cell provides a minimum donation of $0.45 for every electronic item recycled, regardless of age or condition.  That adds up fast!!
