Dear Mariah: Your love and caring of life and our planet is reflected in your site. All creatures on this planet, large and small, are important in one way or another. Yet we share a kinship with our closest relatives, the other great apes. What we particularly see in gorillas are creatures of great sensitivity and intelligence. They share with us anger and sadness, embarassment and pride, joy and love. How can we not feel a connectedness, especially when we see Koko and other gorillas at Stanford using sign language with her handlers, and creating thoughts, questions and observations out of symbols?
Your site shows what very young people can do, and how much caring they can put out into the world. The gorillas definitely need all the assistance they can get, and your contribution through this site not only helps them, but gets others, both kids AND adults involved. I suspect you'll be going to Africa someday soon to see our wonderful cousins, and when you do, we'll all be with you in spirit. Be well. With love, Your cousin Frank
